Bingo

Hi!

Just to let everyone know, "Bingo" had a great introduction to "Jett" the Aussie and his new home last night.

My husband Bob has renamed him "Sabre" and he's already responding to it. Jett has accepted him far better than any other dog I've introduced her too. (We had really hoped a young male puppy would be the ticket.) She won't let him get away with being annoying, but I caught her initiating play with him and they had a good game of chase going on out in the yard. She's already taught him some leash manners on our walk this morning and Job #1: Walk the Borders and Guard the House. (Also, how to use the dog door in about 2 seconds flat. I was going to delay that a few days, but oh well. He's too smart and watches everything she does.) And the little guy eats like a pig! Wow! I need to really watch his portions. I'm so used to dogs being all "meh" & casual about food...)

Erica - there's no doubt he misses you. He thought it was a very nice house and yard and all, but when night rolled around he tried to go out to dig under the gate a few times to get back home to you. He was also a little sad going to bed as well and cried a bit. I sat with him until he fell asleep and he was fine all night on his bed next to ours. He's all happy and perky now this morning.

Erica - you were absolutely right, he is a GREAT dog!! We're so glad you and the staff thought to call us about him and we're pinching ourselves at our good luck for adopting such a smart, friendly, even-tempered puppy. And I know I can lay a lot of this at your door. The extra weeks of fostering were hard, I know, in the bonding that happens but the positive training and household routines you kept there really show. Thanks for all of your extra effort and kindness in looking after him. No matter how good a home he has with us now and forever, you were the first, real turning point in this dog's life.

He's now sleeping at my feet while I work in the studio. He's going to do just fine here.
