"Diesel"On June 27th we adopted a one year old male Rottweiler from the Suncoast Animal League and named him Diesel, and he has been a huge part of our family ever since. When we first got him he weighed in at 68lbs. Now 4 months and a million snacks later he is weighing in at a healthy 90lbs. You see, outside of his daily diet, Diesel has discovered rather quickly that if he follows our 2 ½ year old daughter around or sit under her chair during meal times he is guaranteed a “snack” or two! Diesel is very good with everyone and he needs to be involved in whatever anyone is doing. If my son and I are playing catch Diesel goes after whatever is being thrown no matter if it is a Frisbee, a football, a baseball or a tennis ball. It goes from a game of catch between my son and I to a game of “get it before the dog does”! We have a lot of fun. (And this also helps him burn off those “snack” calories!) Another favorite of Diesel’s are bubbles. This was discovered one day as I was blowing them for our daughter. He started to jump up and bites at them and them waits anxiously for more to be blown. So now if my daughter wants to play bubbles, Diesel needs to stay inside because he is so big he knocks the baby over on his quest for “bubble domination!” But she thinks he is so funny and this is a way that she can interact and play with him. She will sit in her playhouse (to avoid the “knock over”) and blow bubbles for him to catch. All while laughing and screaming with delight! It seems that no matter what you are doing or where you are going he MUST be involved and LOVES to go in the car for trips. My son races Motocross up at the Dade City Motocross track on Saturday nights and when Diesel sees the truck out front hooked to our motocross trailer he knows he is going for a car ride. He gets so excited and waits for us to open the door so he can take his place in the truck. He is a regular at the Dade City Motocross track and is very social with the large crowds of people and children everywhere. Diesel is truly the sweetest dog ever and defiantly is a “Momma’s Boy” in the house. He must know where I am at all times and I am never alone…ever! If I leave he wants to go. If I need to run to the store real quick and he stays at home with my husband, he sits and waits by the door until I come home or if they are outside in the garage he will lay and wait until he sees me pull up in my car. He’s my shadow! All in all we love him very much as do the neighbors. The Rottweiler breed in general has a “bad rap” in society but Diesel has helped many people break that stereo type and they all love him. My husband and I are very pleased with Diesel and how loyal he is to our family. We would like to thank the Suncoast Animal League for rescuing him and bringing him into our lives. I hope you enjoy the pictures! He is so handsome! Jaime Stephens
