Nicky"Nicky" came into our home as a foster dog in August, 2009. If you have followed his story he came in with the name of "Nibbler." He was found in a small cage outside of the shelter with fleas, ear infections, skin infections and was almost completely hairless from the shoulders all the way back to his tail. He was a mess. He was on multiple medications and received 2 medicated baths a week. That was then. Nicky is a new dog! For starters he is hairy! His fleas are gone, his infections are gone, he’s put on a few pounds and he isn’t itchy any more. When he was ready to be put up for adoption I found myself very emotional. I wrote up his bio and sobbed the entire time! What was I thinking? I think it was about 2 days after he was listed I let the shelter know that we couldn’t bear to part with him. He had already found his forever home. Nicky now lives with my 2 boys, 7 and 4 ½ years old; our 11 year old black lab (who, in fact, acts ½ his age since Nicky’s arrival); our 8 year old cat, me and my husband. When he’s not playing with the boys, he is playing with the lab, me or my husband, or the cat. He loves to run, wrestle, chase lizards and squirrels, play tug-o-war with toys, chew on bones, eat doggy ice cream, go for walks and car rides, and most of all be pet by whatever hand is available! He is a great listener (my children should take lessons), good protector, and always respectful of the humans in the house. He is a perfect fit! Thank you Suncoast for all you do, »
