December 2008 Update

Hello Suncoast Animal League,

In my previous letter, I told you of the fun I have been having with my new family and pet pals. Well it never ends here, it gets better and better.

I finally understand what a boat is all about and why I need a life-jacket, even though I'm an excellent swimmer. On my first boat trip we stopped at Dog Beach on Honeymoon Isle, for a bite to eat and a potty break. The day was going swimmingly, when we heard several ladies screaming for HELP!! We focused in on the situation and saw a big black dog, caught in the strong in-coming current of Hurricane Pass. Daddy jumped into the boat and started the motor, Mommy pulled anchors, and we sent Daddy to help. Dad got to the struggling dog, and the fearful dog snapped, at Dad. So Dad circled the dog once more and decided to grab him by his tail. At that point the dog went underwater. When he popped back up, struggling to swim and get a breathe, Dad snatched him by his collar and drug him in the boat. The poor boy was shaken and exhausted, the ladies were a wreck and sobbing. Dad pulled the boat up on the south-end of the beach, where all were reunited again! The Ladies "Thanked" my Daddy so very much. When Daddy motored back to us, he was a bit shaken himself. He told us, "he didn't think the big black dog was going to surface again, because he had already gone under twice!" Needless to say, we gave Daddy lots of kisses and called him "Our Hero." You see "it was meant to be" there was only two boats in the area, the one that sped by the struggling dog and us.

Since then I have learned to catch bait, snorkel, dive for shells and do the "Sting Ray Shuffle" with Mommy. My Daddy and Sissy keep a look out for sharkles (those huge fish with rows of teeth) and careless boaters, coming to close. Mommy says, she is very glad that I like the water and that Sissy and Daddy are "scaredy cats".

I have done so many things like, camping out in the tent, and really like to be in the sleeping bag. And when the campfire food hits the ground, I am all over it. We go to my Uncles home in sunny Naples, where I get the royal treatment. I mostly sun tan, get lots of treats and guard dog Uncle's '67 Hot-Rod Ford Fairlane. Yeah, I figure if I lay next to it long enough, I'm bound to get a ride one day! Uncle lives on the edge of the jungle that I want to explore, but Mommy says it's full of Monkeys, Swamp Angels and Chupacabre, Oh My!

It will be one full year in my furever home on December 18th 2008, which is my Mommy's Birthday too! She says "I was the best gift, she ever got". I'm thinking, I got the better gift! "Sufferin' Succotash", I always say.

Love to my bestest friends ever, Olive (Mylove)

P.S. Wear your dog-gone life-jackets!!
