Sadie

Suncoast Animal League pet photo

I just wanted to let you know how well Lacey, now known as Sadie, is doing. She has truly exceeded our expectations for a puppy. Not only is she adorable, but she is smart and has made an easy transition into her new home. Even though last week was stormy, she had no problems going out and taking care of business. The first couple of nights she was up in the middle of the night, but she has quickly settled into a routine of sleeping through the night on our bedroom floor.

During the day she is crated from 9am till lunch time when my husband comes home. Then back in the crate for just a brief time until my daughter and I come home at 3:00 to let her out and play with her. She gets lots of walks, lots of toys and lots of love. She even has some special chew toys for the periods that she is kenneled to keep her happy.

She made her first trip to the vet with us on Wed and the vet was so good with her. He made the whole visit into treats and playtime. She is scheduled to go back in about 10 days for more shots and hopefully it will be equally untraumatic.

She has already gone out visiting friends with us and out to the pet store. On her walks we stop and make new friends, both the two-legged and four-legged variety. Our three cats are in various stages of working out their personal issues with her, but seem to be adjusting. Although Sadie wants nothing more than to play with the kitties, they object. Sadie quickly calms down and usually just lays down watching the cat.

Training-wise she is also making excellent progress. We are working on her sit, down, stay and come commands and she is an eager pupil. Her motto is, "Will work for food!" It is obvious that her foster parents did some training with her, and for this, I thank them.

Sadie is also a pretty mellow pup. She is content just to hang out wherever we are, whether out by the pool, in the living room or in the office. She definitely has her spastic puppy moments (which entertain us greatly), but for the most part, she is just content and happy. Thanks for hooking us up with an awesome pup! She's gonna have an awesome life! Please take a look at the attached picture as proof! :)

Best,

Kris, Jen, Ziven, Emily and "Sadie"
