Their plea yielded a response from Suncoast Animal League, and after much consideration, Executive Director and co-founder, Rick Chaboudy and co-founder and board member Annette Dettloff decided to assist. Along with League volunteer Sheena Pender, they packed supplies and headed out of town on Tuesday, December 16th.

Wednesday morning, Rick and Annette rode around Georgetown with Angel Dog Rescue Director Susan Hayley in order to evaluate the situation. Seeing how devestated the area was, they decided to return to Florida with 32 dogs and puppies. Volunteers Susan Philbeck and Judy Clark met the caravan half way to assist with the animal handling.

Suncoast fosters and volunteers were standing by to welcome them back Wednesday evening. All the dogs and puppies received baths and had any necessary medical needs addressed. Foster parents then finished the final leg of the journey by taking the dogs and puppies home to rest.

While some of the dogs and puppies are ready for adoption at the League, many of the puppies are still too young and are waiting out their time in foster homes.
