Shelter Stories

Millie & Sammy

Dear Veterinarian,

We have left our much beloved cats here out of desperation, as we can’t feed them any more. We are having difficulty enough feeding ourselves, we are an elderly disabled couple, in foreclosure of our home, and bankrupt. The humane society would not take our cats. Millie, the female calico, is 9 years old. She’s not really friendly towards other cats, or strangers, she is spayed and front declawed. We have had her since she was 6 weeks old, she would make a single elderly owner a wonderful pet.

Sammy, the long haired black and white, is neutered and front declawed. He is 2 ½ years old. He is reasonably friendly, and interacts well with other cats.

We have been feeding them on canned tuna for the last week, but they are used to being fed on dry adult cat food.

We are so sorry for doing this, but we are at our wits end as to what to do. Neither cat has been fed today as we don’t have anything to give them. We even tried the food bank to see if they have any cat food, and they don’t.

Many thanks and with great sadness……

The owners.
